Kate
Shea passed away from Leukemia
at a young age of 25 years.
The Bay Head 5K Memory Run was
founded by loving friends and
family of Kate Shea in order
to give back to the community
she called home most summers
of her short but fulfilling
life. Kate was an inspiration
to us all in the way she lived
her life in an accepting and
open-minded way. The proceeds
from the Bay Head 5K will go
to The Kate Shea Foundation
and to support the town of Bay
Head.

charity for hosting 5K run
BAY
HEAD: The Borough Council
accepted a $5,000 donation from
the Kate Shea Foundation Tuesday
night. Kate Shea, a resident of
Farmingdale who summered here,
died of leukemia at 25 five
years, said Bridget Smith, a
spokeswoman for the foundation.
The borough has yet to decide
how to spend the money, but some
is expected to go to the local
drug awareness program for the
schools, borough officials said.
On May 22, about 500 runners
participated and $20,000 was
raised in the first Bay Head 5K

The Town of Bay Head
• Located just below Monmouth County at the central NJ shore
• Slender, ocean front boroughs, a state highway is the main drag, with grandiose houses, yacht clubs, a rail yard, old line family businesses and fish everywhere
• The town is 70 miles south of New York City, 65 miles east of Philadelphia, 60 miles north of Atlantic City
• Many large, well kept Victorian homes line the streets, gardens bloom in season, and of course, the un-crowded, life-guarded beaches, a constant joy
